Fun for the Melbourne Cup. Each year, Macquarie and RBS Morgans releases their analysts from the shackles of their bear pit. Who can pick a winner for this year's Melbourne Cup?
Remember, an analysts view of the Melbourne Cup means that its not about who's going to win, but who will provide the best bang for your buck!
Both Macquarie and RBS Morgans failed to pick a winner last year but Macquarie maintain the better record. This year sees a new addition to the bean counter brigade with an analysis from PWC.

Our view
If you like detail, the Macquarie analysis provides lots of information and background, Morgans provides a simple analysis using tipsters tips and odds, whilst PWC have provided a typical consulting approach resulting in a mass of pretty charts.
In a similar vein to last year, we analysed the the analysis and noted that Macquarie have once again changed their weightings for their overall score. Last year would have provided them with a better result (albeit still without a winner).We have once again re-constructed their rankings using their weightings from 2011 and note the results are note disimilar to this year's rankings. This year our money is on Sea Moon, with a flick of the lucky coin on Voleuse De Coeurs.
